Open Question: Weight Training - Is my training correct? (ABCAB)?
Hi, Started to go to the gym last month and would like your opinion on my training (I copied it from my pal, same age and goals). My goal is gaining strength and muscle mass in the arms, upper-body and chest. I do not want to loose weight as I feel thin. I am also thinking of taking WHEY PROTEIN and CREATINE…Is it better to take them in an ‘every in one’ formula (like MaxiMuscle Cyclone) or buying them every separate? I usually eat chicken, roast potatoes for lunch and Italian pasta for dinner (And vegs sometimes) Please, give your opinions on my training or suggest me one! -- Monday – Chest, Shoulders and Triceps Tuesday – Back and Biceps Wednesday – Ø Thursday – AS MONDAY Friday – AS TUESDAY Saturday – Ø Sunday – Ø Note: Before the training: Bicycle and Rowing - 7 minutes each. My weight: 85kg (187 lb) Height: 1.85m (6 ' and 0.83 ") Age: 28

Open Question: How to take off my left bicycle petal?
I know already about the reverse threading and every but i had this bike for over 7+ years now and really like how it rides and i had started to take off the petals to replace with new ones the right one was removed flawlessly but when i tried the left one it went maybe half a turn then locked up and i hurt my shoulder trying to continue to remove,im using just a standard (i think 15mm) wrench, but i can't look buying the proper tool to remove because this is a one time thing although is there something i could soak the petal in to remove some of the rust that made its way on there through the years? and i can't try to re-tighten to ride it again because like i had said it's currently locked and i'm stumped on what to do? maybe WD40? i haven't tried WD40 yet but what do you guy's recommend?

Open Question: Rotational physics question?
a physics professor stands at relax on a 5.0 kg, 50 cm diameter frictionless turntable. his assistant has a 64 cm diameter bicycle wheel to which 4.0 kg of guide weights have been added around the rim. handles extend outward from the axis so that the wheel can be held as it spins. the assistant spins the wheel to 180 rpm and holds it in a horizontal plane (the rotation axis is vertical) such that the rotation is ccw as seen from the ceiling. He then hands the spinning wheel to the professor. a. When the professor takes the wheel by the handles and the assistant lets go, does anything happen to the professor? If so, describe the professor's motion and calculate any numerical quantities. If not, explain why not. b. The the professor turns the spinning wheel over 180 degrees so that the handle that had been pointing toward the ceiling now points toward the floor. Does anything happen to the professor? If so, describe the professor's motion and calculate any relevant numerical quantities. If not, explain why not. Hint: You'll need to model both the professor and the wheel. The professor has the total mass of 75 kg. His legs and torso are 70 kg. They have an average diameter of 25 cm and a height of 180 cm. His arms are 2.5 kg each, and he holds the handles of the wheel 45 cm from the middle of his body. Don't forget that the wheel both spins and moves with the professor.

Resolved Question: First night home and baby is fussy, help?
This is our first night home. My girlfriend was up with our daughter but I told her I'd take her so she could receive some relax. She's been upset for like 3 hours now. I've tried changing her, feeding her(she's on formula if it helps),making sure she wasn't hot/icy,turning off the tv,turning on a fan,her pacifier, rocking her, talking to her, doing the bicycle legs thing & going for a car ride. She might cease for 10 minutes tops. Is there anything else I can do to try to silent her? I really want my girlfriend to relax but she's not really going to if she hears our baby crying like this. Is there something wrong?

Open Question: Is the Trail-Gator Child Bike Tow Bar a good solution compared to axle based solutions?
With axle based I mean for example the "Follow me tandem": http://www.followme-tandem.com/english/index.htm Is the Trail-Gator Child Bike Tow Bar a good solution? I am especially thinking of it compared to systems attached to the axle. The main thing is of course that it is a good solution for towing a bike (1) 2) Easy to take on and off. 3) Practical if you disconnect the child bike during a ride. 4) Other uses like pulling a wagon or one wheel trailer. I think the Trail-gator beats the axle type on (3). A bicycle store I went to said the Trail-gator had low quality, but my guess it is just to cheap for them to make any profit.

Open Question: Dealing with "fatal" parental disapproval?
"Your going to give me a heart attack!". "This is going to cause me to have a nervous breakdown!" These are the encouraging words i hear from my mom when I talk of moving out and living life in my unique way. I will admit, my aspirations and goals are unconventional. I want to become something akin to an organic farmer. Permaculture, biodynamic farming techniques, and homesteading skills are what I want to learn and master. I also have a strong urge to travel, mostly around North America. I feel this would give me a great opportunity to meet other people and network with those who have the same goals as I do. While on the road, I will also take opportunities to volunteer on ecovillages and organic farms through WWoof or through my possess means of networking. every of this will be done by riding a bicycle packed with the basic necessities and some light camping equipment. I also have a modest amount of money to the side, should any complications arise. I also can always play the mandolin for money, if I cannot find any quick temp labor jobs. I plan to leave tardy April of 2010. My plans are solid I feel, but there is one major factor that has derailed my plans before. My mom. As pathetic as it may be, I am 19 years old and still live with my parents. However, when I mention my plans and goals, my mom goes on an emotional melt down. I know this is normal for anyone on the brink of leaving the nest. I just don't know how to respond to her emotional tirade. I feel crippled. How is a loving son supposed to respond to his mom who acts like his plans and dreams are killing her? I grew up as an obedient child. I never got into any serious trouble, nor did I ever make life hell for my mom. It doesn't seem fair for me to give up something I am passionate about doing, just for her comfort. I have done it before, but I just cannot allow myself to lose more time by postponing my plans again. Im a competent hardworking person with a good head on my shoulders. But the way she acts, makes me feel like a fuck up. I appreciate the feedback. I have tried compromising with her. It is a one way road. She will go crazy if I do anything related.

I was 6 years old when I got a brand new blue two wheeler for Christmas. It had a wire basket on the front and streamers on the handle bars. Open Question: How would you explain this?
http://books.google.com/books?id=eC4eicX77HEC&printsec=frontcover&cd=1&source=gbs_ViewAPI#v=onepage&q=&f=untrue I know the link will seem scary, but for anyone willing, on page 5 of the text I'm writing about I'm having trouble trying to phrase a textual point about the passage. If you very quickly skim over the text you might look that the author makes past to gift references. Example. "For a long while boys and girls...Nowadays it is perfectly clear..." "This knowledge had helped chemists decide what fuels to use..." "Remember that you didn't learn to roller-skate, or to ride a bicycle...until you can balance chemical equations." I do believe that what I've referenced has some sort of textual feature (possibly a recount of some sort?) I can't seem to think of how to explain it. Hopefully someone might be able to help me. Cheers. P.s. This is based on a Linguistics course.

Open Question: Crazy bicycle gear idea?
I've been wondering about this for a while. I want to make a bike that's not impossible to pedal, but that can easily go about 30 mph. One thought that I've wondered about: If a third set of cogs is added, say on the middle post of the frame, can it be used to receive more torque (or whatever it's called)? The chain would go from the crank to a smaller gear that would rotate a larger cog. That larger gear would have another chain that rotates the rear gear, which would rotate the wheel like normal. There could be a derailleur on the middle gears, and maybe a cover to keep the rider's clothes clean. But, would this idea even work?

Open Question: what is my teacher talking about?
ok so the following is the question and my answer: Suppose you start with at least $52 in your savings account and deposit $27 each week. a. Write an inequality to describe how much money m you have after w weeks. b. If you do this for 11 weeks, will you have enough to buy a bicycle that costs $340? Explain, showing your work. Answer: w = weeks (11) m = money a. 52+27w = m b. 52+(27x11)=m 27x11 = 297 297+52 = 349 m = $349 So yes there will be enough money to purchase the bike. what she responded: Great job writing and solving this equation! Open Question: Latin Translation: The race of truth?
Hi every. I need some help with a translation, from English to Latin. The phrase--'The race of truth.' In this context, 'race' is to mean an activity (like a bicycle race, a swimming race, etc) and not an an ethnic designator. The phrase 'The race of truth' is commonly used in racing time trials, requiring every-out effort, where the racer expends every bit of his/her energy in the race. Based on the racer's performance, he/she must arrive to terms with his/her possess accomplishments or inadequacies, and has no one to blame but oneself (for failure). Thus--a race to force an honest appraisal of one's abilities. The online translators (i.e. Babelfish) give only literal translations of the words, destroying the context and beauty of the phrase. Thanks.
